This applesauce is one of the simplest sweet recipes you’ll ever make. It’s super healthy and you can add it in sweet and savory dishes, although my favorite way of using it is as an egg substitute in baking.

I learned this easy recipe from my mom, and although it’s not complicated at all, it still is delicious and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. Besides, it can be a super light dessert but you can also have it for breakfast or as a snack.

On the other hand, this applesauce is very versatile because you can prepare lots of different recipes with it. It’s great for customizing it to taste, and this version doesn’t contain any kind of artificial additives or preservatives.

Pro tips

  • You can use any kind of apples to make this recipe.
  • I used coconut sugar, but feel free to use any type of sweeteners like stevia or date syrup. You can omit it if you want to.
  • I suggest you add a little bit of sugar first, then try the applesauce and if you feel like it needs to be sweeter, add some more of it.
  • Lemon juice will help this recipe keep longer in good condition. You can omit it if you want your applesauce to be super sweet, though.
  • This recipe is perfect for using apples that have almost gone bad.
